Montaire is a tall, condensed display serif with the poise of a private members’ club and the restraint of inherited wealth. Its high-contrast letterforms pair strong, upright stems with hairline serifs and gently tapered curves. It’s the kind of type you’d find engraved on heirloom stationery, pressed into a perfume box, or set across the masthead of a magazine that has never needed to advertise.
Every detail is considered. The Q ends in a graceful, sweeping tail. The A has a fine hairline stroke. The R kicks out with quiet confidence, the ampersand curls like a calligrapher’s flourish, and the fi and fl ligatures flow as single, seamless forms. Set it large and it becomes a monogram, a logo or a statement.
